So this is my second Handmade Monday and after the feedback on my first blog, I feel very welcomed :) Thank you to everyone who left such lovely comments - I have replied to you all where I can. I cannot wait to see what everyone else has been up this week.
If you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about, get yourselves over to the utterly brilliant Handmade Monday blog and see what 'artist/designer – and general dogsbody' Wendy has put together so that like-minded artists, designers and crafty peoples can share their wares.
This is what I have been up this week.
I decided to take the bunny I made last week as a belated Easter and get well soon present to a different friend. My friend absolutely loved it and it made me so happy to see his reaction over something that I had made.
Sooo I had a new gift to make for my friends birthday and came up with something a little similar but different fabric (I also forgot to spritz the padding with perfume!)
Last night I was tidying up my wardrobe and found these little beauties. They are between 6 and 8 years old now. I still have a tonne of felt left from school but just not the time to do anything with it.
Every time I see Jan's feltings at http://www.lovemakethink.com/, I wish I did have more time to felt.
Aaaand here is my knitting update. Thank you for everyone who left an encouraging comment about it last week. This week I have been attempting stocking stitch. It is not looking too great at the moment but I am sure I will crack it with a bit more practice. At one point I got so confused that I managed to invert the pattern (cue my Mum coming to the rescue!)
This week I have a new illustration on the go, a hair chop appointment, a bit of much needed baking to do and a couple of trips planned to Old Moor. I hope you all have a fab week planned too :)
Let me know what you think! X
Glad to hear that you enjoyed handmade monday! Pleased that you are enjoying the knitting still. The more you do the easier it will get and the quicker you will get too! Mich :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great way to see everyone's each week?! I love it :)Thank you - my Mum showed me a how to tell whether I am on a knit or purl row and now everything is starting to fall in to place xx
DeleteOoh leftover felt - pass it this way!!
ReplyDeleteHeehee :) since finding those samples I have had a few ideas of what to do with the remainder of my felt xx
DeleteNo no I bagsy the felt :0P
ReplyDeleteGlad your still with the knitting. Before you know it you'll be doing cables/moss stitch,fairisle......the lot!
Haha I have a few ideas of what to do with the last of my felt up my sleeve :) My Mum has been cabling this week and it looks very confusing! I've never heard of moss or fairisle either - they sound a bit scary! :) xx
DeleteThe little duckling is so sweet and well done on the knitting front.
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline! :) xx
DeleteThe duck is lovely - I love gingham fabric, always looks spring-like. Look forward to reading about what you do with the felt. Well done with the knitting too. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I bought the fabric a while ago to remake the fabric areas on my sewing basket as it was my Grandmother's and needed a little mending and this is the first time I've used the fabric for anything else. Plenty more things I'm going to use it for though :) xx
DeleteOh, such a cute little duck! Well done on the knitting front - keep it up! (I'm one to talk, aren't I?!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your first HM - welcome back x
Thank you - aww you had your reasons for not knitting though heehee Everything is starting to fall into place with my knitting now and I'm not getting quite as frustrated!
DeleteThank you - I will most definitely continue to return :) xx
Your knitting is looking brilliant - well done. You've got a lovely, busy week planned. Hope you send us all an update next week on HM too!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I'm very pleased (and surprised!) with how the knitting is going. I am flagging a bit this week but I will post an update on Monday xx
Deleteyou are waaaaaaaaay better a knitting than me! :)
ReplyDeletei love the wool that you're using - can't wait to see the finished item!!
Heehee thanks :) The wool is really nice to knit with and a lot easier than the arun wool I started knitting with. Not sure what the finished item is going to be yet xx
DeleteThose ducks are so cute - they would look lovely in a nursery! Well done with your knitting progress too.x
ReplyDeleteAw thank you - I never thought of a nursery, but I think you're right. I will bare it in mind for the future :) xx
DeleteYou've had a really busy week. Well done witgh the knittin and what a lovely gingham chick/duck!
ReplyDeleteThis week seems to be a lot busier than last week too! Thank you for your kind words :) xx
DeleteI would love to see some of your typography work that you do, its something I would love to be able to do but I have never attempted it. I did a degree in psychology and am now feeling I should have done design and kick started my crafting career!! X
ReplyDeleteAw I love typography - there is a link to some of my work at the top of this page but I've not done any in a while. My last year of uni was focused on it. There are lot of pro's and con's to design degrees. I sometimes wished I'd studied something else as design can be really hard to pursue post degree. :) xx
DeleteI don't know why but I always think of gingham as a 'happy' fabric, so a great choice for the duck.
ReplyDeleteJan :o)
Yeah it happy fabric isn't it :) I'm going to use a more of it in some way or other :) xx
DeleteLovely to have you along for Handmade Monday. Your gingham duck is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny!!! :) xx
DeleteI love your little creations! I went back to check out your bunny (since I missed last week, being sick). Adorable, and kind of like the little things I make, altho prettier. Mine are more...oh, I guess I'll say rustic or organic (it sounds better than messy!) Yours are so sweet and I love the fabric colors. Welcome to the group. :)
ReplyDeleteAww thank you for saying so Susie! :) I love the word messy heehee. The pony you posted this week looked lovely and your knitting puts mine to shame - so we're equal right? :) xx
DeleteLots of different lovely things! Good luck with the knitting! Jo x
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo :) xx
DeleteWow lots of different crafts going on in your life this week! Your knitting looks so neat!!
